Springdaleigh hosts a fund-raising musical, magical night

Sponsored by Allegheny Valley School District's Alumniall of Fame, the evening "for kids of all ages" provides a fast-paced, full program of entertainment to benefit scholarships for Springdale Junior-Seniorigh School students.

Three characters, including his dummy Chester Drawers, will accompany him through jokes, stories and songs, including a retelling of the classic "Who's On First" routine, originated by the comedy team of Abbott and Costello.

The show includes performances by the Rainbow Kids from the Afterschool Buddy program; KDKA TV weatherman Dennis Bowman, a master ventriloquist; magician-illusionist Dan Kuniak; and the five acts that made it to the live talent finals of the firstall of Fame Star competition, which began Feb.

It will only seem like a cast of thousands at "March Magic! A Musical, Magical Celebration for Kids" on Friday at Springdaleigh School.

She left her 28-year commercial television career, which included jobs at WTAE and WPXI, to found the company.

"We felt Juliann was an ideal guest for a show that is not just to entertain, but also to inspire and motivate more young people to get involved in the arts as a healthy outlet for their passion, energy and emotions," says organizer Susan Brozek-Scott, a member of the school district's Alumniall of Fame.

Kuniak of Frazer enjoys sharing a bill with Bowman. "Magic has the amazing capability to be presented in so many different ways that it can appeal to any audience.

Brozek-Scott, a former environmental reporter, also performs in character as the instructive environmentalist Aunt Junk, a colorful redhead who raps and dances on stage with a giant costume character dog, Jake Poodles, and Manny Cat.

She also formed the Rainbow Kids, a multicultural, singing/dancing/acting performancegroup comprised of children ages 7 to 15.
